# MIAPI

> Grounded AI answers API. One call returns an AI-written answer, the sources it

## What it does
- `POST /v1/answer` - question in, grounded answer + sources + confidence out
- Modes: `answer` (default), `search` (raw results for your own RAG), `knowledge`
- Also: news search, image search, streaming, inline citations
- OpenAI-compatible endpoint, so it drops into existing code

## Conversations
Pass the same `conversation_id` on every call and the server remembers the last
10 messages, so follow-ups work without you sending the history:

Scoped to your API key, expires after an hour of inactivity, and nothing is
written to disk. Omit it and the API stays completely stateless.

## Kids mode and time zones
Add `"style": "kids"` for answers written the way you would talk to a child:
short, simple, spoken, no lists or links. Add `"timezone": "America/New_York"`
(any IANA zone) so dates and match times come back in your user's local time.
Both work on /v1/answer and /v1/stream.

Parental controls (kids mode): add `"blocked_topics": ["death", "religion"]`
(choose from sex, death, religion, politics, drugs_alcohol). A question on a blocked topic gets a gentle "ask a
grown-up" reply and the response carries `parental_flag` so your app can tell
the parent.

## Pricing (one-time credit packs, no subscription, credits never expire)
- Starter: $9 for 2,500 queries ($3.60 per 1,000)
- Developer: $33 for 10,000 queries ($3.30 per 1,000)
- Pro: $90 for 30,000 queries ($3.00 per 1,000)
- Scale: $250 for 100,000 queries ($2.50 per 1,000)
- Free tier: 100 queries per month

## Use it from an AI assistant (no code required)
MIAPI ships an MCP server, so Claude Desktop, Cursor and Windsurf can call it
directly and get web-grounded answers with citations.
